Blog Sale 29/10/2010 – CLOSED

So I have been feeling more and more overwhelmed by my belongings lately, and I’ve decided to do something about it. If you’re not already aware, I am something of a minimalist and having too many material posessions can be a cause of some stress for me (especially when I have no real way of organising everything – argh!), which is kind of an odd part of my personality but there you have it. I’ve decided to do a bit of a beauty blog sale, and see how it goes.

Please note: None of the items I have put up for sale were sent for me by PR companies. These are all items that I paid for myself, or received in some kind of swap. Obviously I am not going to love every product that gets sent to me for review, so if I have tried a product and reviewed it and wasn’t 100% satisfied with it or didn’t love it enough to warrant keeping it I will be donating it along with other items to a women’s shelter at Christmas. (I will post more about this on Monday..)

So before I get started posting the items up for sale, I’ll mention a few ‘rules’ –

01: Each sale is final. I will not accept any returned goods, so please ask me questions on items that you are interested before offering to buy them.

02: I will ship interstate and internationally if anyone from overseas is interested in buying any items listed. (Australian shipping: $4 for 1 item $6 for 2-5 items and $10 for 5 or more items – if you’re really feeling generous. International shipping: $10 for 1-5 items $15 for 5 or more items)

03: All payments to be made by Pay Pal please, and in Australian dollars.

04: I will post the items within 3 days of payment being completed (not pending) via Pay Pal.

05: The sale will work on a first come-first served basis. Please email me regarding items that you are interested in purchasing. If you have any questions about products, I will hold that particular item for you until you make a decision.

06: All items are genuine, and I will give honest descriptions about the usage of items, and how much product is left etc.

Hopefully that covers everything! Now, on to the sale…

Product Review: Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum

I’ll admit when I first read about this product I was skeptical. Viper inspired serum did not sound like something I wanted to be putting anywhere near my face. This was until I read that Kate Bosworth is a fan of Rodial, and the Glamoxy Snake Serum in particular. Now Kate Bosworth has an utterly perfect complexion that I have admired for years, so this quote definitely got my attention. “Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum leaves my skin plumped and beautifully radiant.” Yes please. I was sent samples of the Glamoxy Snake Serum, the Glamtox Night and Glamtox Active Day Moisturiser to trial and review. I think out of the three, the Active Day Moisturiser is my favourite product from the range. It leaves my skin feeling very hydrated and “plumped” and seems to work as a primer of sorts to fill the visible pores on my cheeks and forehead. I also really like the Glamoxy Snake Serum (despite my earlier hesitation), it is surprisingly soothing even for my sensitive skin, which I wasn’t expecting from a product that sounds like it could be quite harsh. I’ve not had a chance to use the product for the recommended amount of time in order to see proper results (twice daily for 28 days) but so far so good and I will continue to use the product to see what kind of results I get! The Rodial Glamoxy Snake Serum retails for $195 AUD for 25ml and is availably exclusively at MYER.

Newsflash: Mecca Maxima

I’m a little slow on the uptake here, as Mecca Maxima officially launched in Melbourne on October 13th 2010. Mecca Maxima is the brain child of Mecca Cosmetica and Kit Cosmetics founder Jo Horgan. With product price points ranging from affordable to save up and splurge, Mecca Maxima is a fun and exciting beauty lover’s playground. In other words I want to go to there. If you are located in Melbourne, or planning a trip there soon be sure to check it out! Mecca Maxima is located at the ground floor of the Latrobe Street Building (via Little Lonsdale Street). Happy shopping!

Product Review: Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Hairspray

There is a rather epic battle raging in my bathroom at the moment. It’s a war between my two new favourite hairsprays. The first is the new Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Flexible Style Hairspray (the second will be named at a later date). Now, I have the kind of hair that will usually hold an amazing curl for oh, 5 minutes before dropping into a limp knotted mess. I’ve been using the new Herbal Essences Hairspray on and off for around 2 weeks now, and has revolutionised my daily hair styling. On the mornings that I can’t really be bothered doing much with my hair I will blow dry it, spritz it with the Flexible Style Hairspray and pin it up in a bun. I can leave it for 15 minutes or so, take it out and I have a gorgeous natural wave in my hair that lasts the entire working day.* (yes you read that correctly) When I can actually be bothered, the spray works just as well with properly styled curls. The spray is a little bit sticky compared to other sprays that I’ve used, but doesn’t leave any crunchiness to the hair. (pet peeve!) As with all Herbal Essences products, this smells amazing. The scent range is “voilet splash” which is a lovely floral fragrance that does linger in your hair, but is not at all overpowering. The Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softle Flexible Hairspray retails for $6.99 AUD and is available from all leading supermarkets and pharmacies.

My Rating: 8.5/10

* note: I have super fine hair, and a lot of it. If you have thick or unruly hair, I’m not sure how this product will work for you with the styling that I mentioned.

Mini MAC Haul

So I went browsing on the US MAC website with the intent of getting some items from the Venomous Villains collection, but didn’t see anything that I loved enough to want to buy. I used the parcel forwarding service Hop Shop Go (for the second time, and have a third order pending), and again had no complaints with the service. I ordered the Mineralize Blush in Pet Me (which is a lot darker and more pigmented than it looks and is also a limited edition Mineralize Blush), an Eyeshadow in Blanc Type and the Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in Smoky Heir at the suggestion of Kimberley from Pop Couture.

Newsflash: Kit Limited Edition Christmas Sets

Keeping to the Christmas theme that I’ve been embracing lately, here is a selection of the Kit Cosmetics limited edition Christmas range. I love the fact that this range is aimed at a warmer, Australian type Christmas rather than the “White Christmas” theme everyone else seems to embrace. Though I wouldn’t expect anything less from a proudly Australian company!

Treasured Treats To Go ($44.95 AUD) Contains four of Kit’s best selling products: Lip Sheen in Pinky Tint, Pomegranate Hand Cream, Nail Polish in Jump Start and Sunscreen.

Polished Up Nail Kit ($29.95 AUD) Contains four of Kit’s travel sized signature nail hues: Mix It, High Roller, Winner Takes and Top Gear.

Little Juicy Kit ($19.95 AUD) Contains travel sized versions of Kit’s much loved Pomegranate and Pink Grapefruit body wash and lotion.

Lush Lips And Polished Tips Kit ($24.95 AUD) Contains Kit’s Lip Sheen and Nail Polish in Fast Track for ladies who like to keep things classy.

I will definitely be hitting up Kit before Christmas to stock up on a few of these gift sets. I find them absolutely perfect for those “secret santa” presents that I often have to buy around Christmas time. This range will be available from Kit Cosmetics as of November 8 2010.
