Product Review: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer

I am a relative newbie to Kiehl’s skin care, and when I placed an order for my long lusted after Cucumber Herbal Alcohol Free Toner I decided to order the Ultra Facial Moisturizer to go along with it. I’ve never really settled on a day-to-day moisturizer. I do have a soft spot for Dermalogica ‘s Active Moist but I’m still not sure that it’s holy grail material for me. Now that I’ve been using it for a little while I think I can safely say that the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer is fast on it’s way to becoming my new favourite and is sitting on the precipice of grail’dom. I love it because it is lightweight and fragrance free, and leaves my skin feeling richly hydrated without being too heavy. It does take a little bit of time to sink into the skin, so I generally have to wait a minute or so before applying my makeup. I have sensitive skin that is prone to breaking out when I introduce a new product into my regime and as of yet the Kiehl’s Moisturizer hasn’t had an adverse affect on my skin, so I think that is a good sign. Also, as superficial as it is and has absolutely no relation to the quality of the product whatsoever, I really love the packaging and have always loved the Kiehl’s brand aesthetic. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer retails for $22 AUD and can be purchased online from the Kiehl’s Australian website.

Product Review: Stila Convertible Colour in Petunia

I love the Stila Convertible Colours, though to be honest I never really take full advantage of the fact that they are dual usage products, and only ever use them as a blush. I have tried using them as a lip colour in the past, but I’ve always found them to be quite drying on the lips. But as a blush they work wonderfully. Such is the case with Petunia, which wears well as a beautifully vibrant pink blush. The colour payoff is quite intense, so if you’re fair skinned like myself I would proceed cautiously and with a light hand when applying this as a blush.

This is quite a striking shade in real life, so if you’re not a fan of brightly coloured blush this might not be the product for you. If you’re like me and you like to be able to apply blush in the morning and have it last throughout the working day (even on oily skin like mine) then this is an amazing product. I can see this being one of my favourite products this summer, as the bright pink looks amazing and fresh. The Stila Convertible Colour in Petunia retails for $48 AUD and can be purchased online from Mecca Cosmetica.

Product Review: Biotherm White D-Tox BB Cream

Ahh, BB Cream. BB Cream… What the hell is a BB cream?! Honestly I’m still not 100% sure but whatever it is, I’m loving it. From what I can tell (from my half a**ed research online) BB creams are sort of like skin care/makeup hybrids. Think tinted moisturiser with additional nutrients to benefit your skin. Sounds pretty good, huh? A few weeks ago I was set a sample of the Biotherm White D-Tox BB Cream to try out. I was pretty excited about it, as I had heard a lot of rave reviews about various BB creams but had never bothered making the effort to source one out for myself. And then this miracle appeared in my life.

As you can see from the pictures above, the BB cream does a pretty good job of covering up all of the redness and terrible pigmentation in my skin. It provides good coverage while being as lightweight as a tinted moisturiser, which I think is fantastic. As with most BB creams (from what I’ve heard) there is a very slight greyish tinge and I’m not sure this product would suit those with medium to darker skin tones – I tried it on my sister while she was visiting this weekend and it was too light for her olive skin. It works for me though, and I liked the sample sized tester of this product so much that I bought a full sized version for myself last week. If feel inclined you can do the same thing you can, for $49 AUD at Adore Beauty online.
