FOTN – Dinner & Drinks

I rarely post FOTN images because the last thing I want to do is subject you all to images of my ugly mug, but as I used all of the winter makeup goodies that I mentioned in my previous post I thought it might be worthwhile sharing. On my face is the NP Set Calming Pre-Foundation Primer, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Light, Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation in Perfect Ivory, YSL Touche Eclat in #1, Face of Australia Loose Powder in Outback Translucent, Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC Eyeshadow in Blanc Type (all over lid), MAC Eyeshadow in Phloof! (browbone higlight), Napoleon Perdis Loose Dust in #36 (light dusting all over lid), Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel eyeliner in Black Ink, Benefit They’re Real Mascara, CK Brow Pencil in Brunette, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface, Benefit High Beam, Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry and NP Set Lip Gloss in Hawaii. Phew!

Winter Beauty Haul: Sephora

As part of my new “spend money like a normal person” lifestyle attempt post-Project 50 Pan, I’ve decided to treat myself to a few seasonal items rather than spend frivolously throughout each month. We’ll see how long this lasts. My Winter treats this year are the Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation in Perfect Ivory (this is a back up as I’m about 3/4 of the way through the bottle I’m currently using), Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Blank Ink, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface and the Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry. They’re not pictured but I also received samples of: the Stila Forever Your Curl Mascara, Lorac Face Selftantalizer (ha), Clinique Stay Matte Foundation in Neutral, Urban Decay Primer Potion and Urban Decay Eyeshadows in Half Baked & Evidence.

Product Review: Haus Of Gloi Milkmaid Whipped Soap

As I mentioned in my May Favourites post, I purchased this product after reading Anissa from Beautifully Glossy‘s recommendation of the whipped soaps in general. I’m glad that I ended up ordering this because the Haus Of Gloi Whipped Soap is one of the best body products that I’ve ever used. The formulation of the product seems similar to cupcake icing in the jar, but when you scoop some out and rub it onto your skin it transforms into a soft creamy soap. The Whipped Soap leaves my skin feeling really soft and moisturised, more so than I had expected it to. The ‘Milkmaid’ scent is right up my alley, as the notes are described as ‘flushed, but demure. fresh milk, clean linens, pal must and pink sweet pea blossom”. Yum. Haus of Gloi have a vast range of scents, and they’re all so complex that I find it hard to find ones that I really love enough to repurchase but Milkmaid is definitely one of them. This was part of their Spring 2012 collection and is not currently available on the Haus of Gloi website, but keep your eyes peeled because I know that they sometimes re-release scents in future seasons. The Whipped Soaps retail for $7 USD and are available for purchase online from Haus of Gloi but if you spot them be sure to snap them up quick because they sell out fast.

NOTD – OPI/Sephora ‘Meet For Drinks’

I was looking through my nail polish collection the other day, and this is by far my most worn polish for the Autumn/Winter months. I love it. It has a very slight shimmer to it, which really helps to brighten the deep plum colour. The formulation of these nail polishes is great, and they usually last on my nails for a good 5 days or so before chipping.

Product Review: Soap & Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser

I don’t normally stray too far from my favourite facial cleansers, but the novelty of this one was too much for me to pass by. The most popular hot cloth cleanser on the market right now is probably Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish, and this one from Soap & Glory is along the same lines but at a slightly cheaper price point. To use a hot cloth cleanser, you apply the product to your face & massage it into your skin for around a minute or so if you have the time, and then remove the excess with a muslin cloth (in this case the cloth was provided). I actually really like this cleanser, and it’s unlike anything I’ve tried in the past. I don’t like the scent as it’s a slightly botanical, essential oil type of smell and not my cup of tea at all but moving past that the product itself is wonderful. After I remove the cleanser from my skin it does not feel tight or irritated in any way. In fact, when I hop out of the shower (which is where I tend to use it most) my face isn’t red in the slightest which is unusual for me and my sensitive skin. It also doesn’t leave my face feeling stripped and ‘squeaky clean’, it almost feels like there is a very small layer of oil left on my skin but not in an unpleasant way at all. I am now using this product sans-the supplied muslin cloth as our house guest a couple of months ago mistook it for a rag to clean the bathroom sink with (sigh). The Soap & Glory Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser retails for $27.95 AUD and is available online from Kit Cosmetics. (note: this product was sent for consideration for review)
