Skin Care Haul: Kate Somerville

Note to self: Things to add to list of stuff I’m not particular good at – Abstaining From Purchasing Deluxe Skin Care. I realize that I am on a Project 100 Pan at the moment but these products were just calling my name. We’ll blame this impulse purchase on Lauren Conrad.

Product Review: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15

Isn’t it nice when you try out a product that you probably wouldn’t have bothered purchasing for yourself only to end up loving it? Such was the case with this lip balm. I received a gift pack that included mini versions of the regular and tinted lip treatment as a birthday gift from Sephora and I’ve been loving both products ever since. The lip treatment is creamy and moisturising and it has a delicious sweet lemon scent to it. I love this (and the Rose version) so much that I also went ahead and ordered it in the Coral shade late last year. Unfortunately after using it once, it melted in the tube. Curse you violently hot Australian sun! The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment can currently be purchased from Strawberrynet for $33 AUD.

Thoughts of the week…

01) It was recently announced that The Killing will be returning for a third season. I’m so excited to see Holder and Linden on my screen again. The first two seasons of the show were amazing and I’m interested to see what new case the detectives will be working on this time around.

02) In other TV news, The Walking Dead returns on February 10th.

03) Jennifer Lawrence has really grown on me lately. She seems refreshingly down to Earth.

04) This is one of the creepiest (and funniest) things I’ve seen in a long time. There are some incredibly odd characters out there.

05) I caved and ordered some products from the Kate Somerville skin care range. So far so good.

06) Related to the above, I have been single-white-femaling Lauren Conrad like crazy over the past week. LET ME BE YOU LAUREN.

07) Was anyone else as disappointed with the American Horror Story season 2 finale as I was? I hope next season they stick to one or two storylines and flesh them out rather than trying to pack a million different plot lines into one season.

08) I’ve been dizzy for 3 days straight. I think I might have an iron deficiency. It might be time to see a doctor (and probably start eating meat again, bleh).

09) I celebrated my 5 year anniversary at work during the week and was rewarded with a bonus/gift voucher for my efforts. I’m planning on buying some new things for my house with it so stay tuned for another ‘to build a home’ post sometime soon.

10) Happy Australia Day to my fellow Aussies!

Product Review: Kerastase Nectar Thermique

If you’ve ever asked me to recommend a hair product for you to try, it’s more than likely I suggested Kerastase’s Nectar Thermique. This is hands down one of the best hair products I’ve ever tried. It’s designed to be a leave-in conditioning heat-protectant for your hair, and I use it every day before running the blow dryer over my hair (which is usually when it’s around 80% dry already). It really helps to keep frizziness at bay and my hair looks a million times softer and silkier when I use this product. I didn’t take this product away with me when I traveled late last year, and I noticed such a huge difference in the quality of my hair that I purchased a tube to use while I was away. The Kerastase Nectar Thermique is currently available for $43 at Strawberrynet. Buy it.

Project 100 Pan (part 7)

27: Bath + Body Works Fresh Picked Raspberries Anti-Bac Hand Soap – The foaming hand soaps from Bath and Body Works are my favourite, but they’re a bit of a pain to have shipped here from the US so I might have to start searching for an alternative soon. This was one of the nicest scents from the range that I’ve tried so far.

28: Korres Milk Protein Cleansing Face Wipes – I didn’t like these wipes at all. They seemed to irritate my skin quite a bit, and my face stayed red for about hour each time I used one. I’ll be sticking to my Nivea fragrance free wipes from now on.

29: Face of Australia Loose Powder in Outback Translucent – This is my favourite inexpensive loose powder, but I had to emergency-buy a Maybelline powder one day on my way to work so I’ll be trying to finish that up before repurchasing this one. I think this is the second full size Face of Australia loose powder that I’ve used up, which feels like a bit of an achievement.

30: Bali Soap in Passion Fruit – I don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to buy soap while in Bali but I did. I bought 4 or 5 of these bars in different scents and I’m forcing myself to use them up. Nothing special.

31: L’Oreal Preference Conditioner – Another token freebie-with-hair dye conditioner.
