Thoughts of the Week

01) I went to visit my house last weekend and the roof is finally under development. The weather has been wonderful all week, so I’m hoping this means more progress has been made. The next step is electrical and plumbing. Hurry up and be built, little home!

02) Having A Face

03) John Mayer released his new album ‘Paradise Valley’ this week. Say what you will about the man, but his music is beautiful. I find his albums are always the perfect soundtrack for spring/summer and his latest is no exception.

04) Ben says hello!

05) If you’re in the market for a lightweight blouse for when the weather heats up a bit, I highly recommend this one from Topshop.

06) I’ve been catching up on Jen’s vlogs lately and it’s dangerous because she eats the most amazing food and I’m always left with intense food cravings. Lately it’s been pepperoni pizza, garlic bread, and some kind of ice cream/shake combination.

07) I booked my next holiday this week… I’m heading back to Bali next year! Take a look at this post if you’d like a little peek at my last trip to Nusa Dua in Bali.

08) I’ve still not had any luck with finding a dress for my friend’s wedding in October so the hunt continues and I’m feeling a mild sense of panic.

09) This collection of photos of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston is way too adorable. I can’t stand it.

10) I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned my love for Laura Marling here before, but she’s my favourite female artist. She is simply amazing. I feel so lucky that I’ve seen her perform live. What an inspiration.

Product Review: Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Sweet Rose

I was lucky enough to receive this lipstick for trial and review in early July and I wore it pretty much every day throughout the month. This is such an easy colour to wear. It’s a beautiful shade of pink that comes across quite natural against my skin tone, and it makes for a great low-maintenance, work appropriate shade. It has a faint fruity smell (very similar to the scent of a Body Shop lip balm but I can’t for the life of me figure out which one), which makes it incredibly pleasant to use. The lasting power of this lipstick was good, but I did find it to be slightly drying on the lips. Because of this, I tend to wear this either over my regular lip balm or with a little dab of balm over the top. The Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Sweet Rose retails for $38 AUD and available for purchase from Adore Beauty. (note: this product was sent for consideration for review)

Project 100 Pan (part 12)

48) LUSH Cupcake Face Mask – I’ve come to the conclusion that the only LUSH mask I’m ever going to like is Mask of Magnaminty. Unfortunately, every time I visit a store to return my empty pots (in exchange for a free mask) they never have it in stock so I’m forced to play skin care Russian roulette. In this round I discovered that Cupcake does NOT work well with my skin. At all. Side note: it smells good and it made me hungry.

49) Bath + Body Works Apple Crumble Candle – This candle smelled delicious. Like, I could eat this candle. It’s pretty rare for me to not like a Bath + Body Works candle, especially if it’s a gourmand scent and this was no exception.

50) O&M Detox Shampoo – I bought the travel sized version of this product to see whether I liked it enough to purchase the full size. Sadly as much as I love O&M as a brand, I didn’t enjoy using this clarifying shampoo as much as others I’ve tried so I won’t be purchasing the larger bottle.

51) Bath + Body Works Winter Candy Apple Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Soap – Yum.

52) MOR Milk Bath Gel – Guys, I am obsessed with this scent range and MOR have discontinued it. The nerve. I IMPLORE YOU TO BRING IT BACK, MOR. BRING IT BACK.

Thoughts of the week…

01) GUYS, BEYONCE OPENED A SECOND PERTH SHOW AND I SCORED PLATINUM TICKETS. Apparently good things do come to those who send threatening letters wait.

02) I’m still dying to see Pacific Rim but nobody will come and see it with me. I hate everyone.

03) The Killing finale was a stone cold disappointment, but the third-to-last episode was one of the best things I’ve seen on on television in a LONG time. Peter Sarsgaard absolutely blew me away.

04) BREAKING BAD IS BACK BITCHES.

05) I’m currently making my way through Columbine by Dave Cullen and it’s a truly fascinating read. I highly recommend this if you’re a weirdo like me and you are interested in the psychology behind school shootings.

06) The Man Booker longlist for 2013 was recently announced and I’ve since added the following to my wishlist: A Tale For The Time Being, Almost English, and Unexploded.

07) Mumford and Sons released the clip for their song Hopeless Wanderer and it’s amazing. My favourite thing about this is that Jason Sudeikis apparently sang at the top of his lungs all day on set while they were filming.

08) My girl Griff-yndor has started a new YouTube channel for all her bookish chat. Check it out.

09) I’ve switched back to strict budgeting and I’d like to try and include more budget related posts into the blog but I have no idea what to write about &/or how to make it interesting. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

10) Did you guys pick anything up from the Priceline sale? I replaced some holy grail items (taking advantage of the Maybelline 50% off sale) and bought myself some L’Oreal shampoo and conditioner that I’m excited to try out. Oh, and I also bought myself some gradual tanning lotion HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHhelpmewhathaveIbecome.

Product Review: Origins GinZing Eye Cream

Once again I’ll reiterate that I’m not even sure that I like eye cream but hey here we are so lets talk. As a side note: I accidentally write ‘ice cream’ instead of ‘eye cream’ more often than I’d like to admit, but that’s something for my therapist to figure out. I went on an Origins skin care shopping spree a while ago (before falling into a deep and desperate love affair with Paula’s Choice), and this was the eye cream that I picked up to use alongside the products that I purchased. Basically an eye cream needs to do two things for me to think it’s of any benefit; moisturise the skin under my eyes without leaving a greasy residue, and eradicate all under-eye wrinkles and make me look sixteen again OVERNIGHT. Two extremely realistic expectations of a skin care product. So far, this ice cream eye cream manages to tick the first box, and although it hasn’t magically wiped away the lines under my eyes patience is a virtue and I have high hopes for the future. It contains caffeine, ginseng, magnolia extract and natural optic brighteners to, “rapidly wake up, refresh and restore radiance to tired eyes”. As I’ve looked like I’m living off of 2 hours sleep every day since birth, I am yet to see any real radiance restoration around my eye area. Despite this, I quite enjoy using this eye cream and will continue to do so until this little jar runs out. Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream retails for $45 AUD and is available for purchase from Kit Cosmetics.
