My Nail Polish Collection & Storage

As with most things in my life, I tend to go through phases with nail polish. Sometimes I go for weeks on end wearing the same shade sometimes nothing at all. Other times I like to mix it up and can wear 2 or three shades a week. Sometimes I watch 5 seasons of the X Files in a row and become obsessed with finding the perfect neutral shade of polish à la Dana Scully, but that is a depressing life story for another day. Here is my current nail polish collection, and how I store it.

Poshe Super-fast Drying Topcoat, OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous, OPI My Chihuahua Bites!, OPI Yes… I Can-Can!, OPI Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It and OPI Off With Her Red!.

OPI Russian Navy, OPI Big Apple Red, OPI Koala Bear-y, OPI Charged Up Cherry, OPI Bubble Bath and OPI I’m Not Really A Waitress.

Essie Mademoiselle, Essie Little Brown Dress, Essie Pink Parka, Essie Strawberry Sorbet, Essie Van D’Go and Essie Haute As Hello.

Essie Funny Face, Essie Merino Cool, Essie Pansy, Essie Boat House, Essie Angora Cardi and Essie After Sex.

Essie Tart Deco, Essie Too Too Hot, Essie Fiesta, Sephora by OPI Call Your Mother, Sephora by OPI How Cute Is That? and Sephora by OPI Charge It!.

Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, Sephora by OPI Casting Call, Sephora by OPI Brunette On The Internet, Sephora by OPI Screen Test, Sephora by OPI Meet For Drinks and Sephora by OPI Cover Me In Petals.

Face Of Australia Flaming Lava, Face Of Australia White Gold, Face Of Australia Foxy Roxy, Bloom Zooey and Bloom Flamingo Sands.

b Collection by Bloom Seychelles, b Collection by Bloom Santorini, b Collection by Bloom Marrakesh, b Collection by Bloom Barcelona, b Collection by Bloom Cannes and China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.

Mecca Audrey, Mecca Violenta, Mecca Jessica, Mecca Rosaline, Mecca Perdita and Mecca Couture.

I store my nail polish in acrylic cutlery drawers that I found in Big W. I sort them by brand rather than by shade because I’m more familiar with what I own brand-wise than what I have within a certain colour range. I’m considering doing a series of weekly posts where I wear every single shade that I own at least once next year and do a NOTD post for each. Let me know if that is something you would be interested in!

Spring Polish Picks

As you can probably tell from the picture above, I have a rather particular palette when it comes to the nail polish colours that I wear in Spring. I opt for light pinks, peaches and purples with the occasional coral shade thrown in for good measure. I picked out my top five favourite nail polish shades for Spring to share with you, and they are: Bloom ‘Flamingo Sands’, Sephora by OPI ‘How Cute Is That?’, Sephora by OPI ‘Casting Call’, b Collection by Bloom ‘Seychelles’ and Essie ‘Nice Is Nice’.

July Favourites

Kerastase Nectar Thermique – I’ve been mentioning this product a lot lately, and it’s because I’m absolutely obsessed with it. I use it every morning before I heat style my hair (I try to let my hair dry overnight, but I need to blow dry my fringe in the morning to help deal with my double cowlick situation) and it really seems to help protect my hair and combat flyaways.

Lanolips Golden Ointment – This has been a lifesaver for me during the cold weather in July. I suffered through my second headcold for the season which resulted in a dry skin issue around my nose that this product managed to clear up in two days. I’ve also been massaging a small amount of the ointment into my hands before bed at night as a heavy duty hand cream and it’s kept all dryness at bay.

Haus of Gloi Ghost Puffs Body Lotion – This lotion smells like lolly gobble bliss bombs (high five if you remember that deliciously teeth-rotting heaven in a bag). It’s a very strong scent so I’ve never worn it during the day, but boy oh boy is it a delight to smell in the evening. I have another full sized version of this in my cupboard, but if they re-release this scent at Halloween I highly recommend that any fans of sweet gourmand scents pick this up.

C.O. Bigelow Tinted Lip Balm in Lemon & Strawberry – For some reason I couldn’t stop thinking about this lip balm so I dug it out of my back-up product bin and opened it up. This was SO easy to wear, gave a hint of berry tint to the lips and smelled like lemon. I’m pretty sure I’ll get sick of the scent if I use it too much so I tucked it back into my makeup collection for a little while just to give it a break.

b Collection by Bloom 3-in-1 Liner in St Mark’s Square – I used this pretty much every day after it arrived in the June Lust Have It box, so I’m including it as a favourite for the month. I really like the wear and the colour, and the fact that it’s a roll-up style eye liner (something I’m leaning towards more and more lately) so I enjoyed using this.

November Favourites

November was yet another blink-and-you’ll-miss-it month for me, despite celebrating my 27th birthday, nothing really seemed to happen. I’ve been using quite a few of the same things on rotation lately, but there were still some stand out products that I thought it best to mention. My pick of the bunch for November: By Terry Ultra-Correcting Foundation, Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara, Echolife Floral Facial Mist, b collection by Bloom ‘Barcelona’ Nail Polish & Byredo Gypsy Water perfume.

Product Review: b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley

During my recent trip to Sydney, I stumbled across the b collection by Bloom counter at Target. I’d heard about this collection but had never had the chance to play around with it in person so I was pretty excited to find the counter (though slightly disappointed that there weren’t many products left on the shelf). As always, I went straight to the blush and immediately reached for the gorgeous peach-pink shade Yarra Valley. I then spent about 5 minutes trying to figure how to operate the packaging. Once I had wrestled it open I fell in love with the formulation of the blush, and the colour.

The formulation is very similar to the new MAC Cremeblend blushes in that the blush applies quite sheer, but is easily buildable. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and looks very natural on fair skin (I built the colour up quite a bit in the above swatch). I’m not sure how well it would show on a darker skin tone, but as it’s buildable I’m sure it could be easily layered show more colour. I am loving this blush and guessing that it will be getting a lot of wear this spring. The b collection by Bloom Cheek Tint in Yarra Valley retails for $19.95 AUD and can be purchased from Target Australia.
