July Empties/Project 20 Pan Update

July was not too bad of a month as far as empties were concerned. Having said that, I can pretty much say that my venture into Project 20 Pan territory was a bust. I’ve been a total failure when it comes to non-spending on beauty products lately. Ahh well, such is life. In any case, here is my updated (and completed) tally –

May Empties / Project 10 Pan Update

I have decided to upgrade my Project 10 Pan to a Project 20 Pan. I have already finished up 7 full sized products in one month (and accidentally bought 3 new ones, shh…) so I figure I might as well go all in for the long haul. Finished up in May:

01: Sebastian Hydre Shampoo
02: Sebastian Hydre Conditioner
03: Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Orchid & Coconut Milk Shampoo
04: Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat
05: Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation
06: Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover
07: Neutrogena Oil-Free Fresh Moisture Ultra Light Moisturiser
Samples: Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask

Not a bad effort for one month!

Project 10 Pan

The time has come to embark on another Project 10 Pan. I usually force myself on to these when I’ve been spending way too frivolously on cosmetic items that I don’t necessarily need. This week I ordered a makeup palette that contains products that I’m pretty sure I already have dupes of in my collection. But gosh isn’t it pretty? Anyway, it seemed like a good time to start up a Project 10 Pan as I want to start saving for my upcoming trips to Sydney, Bali and the US that will be happening over the next year and a half. So this P10P will encompass all beauty products (makeup, skin care, hair care and body products) and will only include products that I don’t plan on repurchasing straight after finishing the first one up. I used to include those sorts of products in the past, but it doesn’t really make much sense when the purpose is to try and use up some of the products in my stash that never see the light of day. So here we go! Each end of month “empties” post will now also double as a Project 10 Pan update post. Wish me luck!

Project 10 Pan Update / February Empties

My Project 10 Pan so far including what I managed to finish up in February:

01: Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Seasilk Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner (travel sized)
02: L’Oreal Preference High Shine Colour Conditioner
03: Lancome Hypnose Mascara
04: NARS Sheer Matte Foundation in Siberia / Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation in Perfect Ivory
05: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Grapefruit
06: Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner
07: Dermalogica Precleanse
08: Bath + Body Works Exotic Coconut Body Lotion
09: Pantene 3 Minute Miracle

One more to go! I’ve not been completely on-track this month, which is frustrating but I only have myself to blame! I do admit to purchasing a few things from yet another fellow beauty blogger’s blog sale. But I think it’s good to support friends and co-bloggers, right? Right. I will continue use that to justify my purchases…

Project 10 Pan Update / January Empties

Finished up in January:

01: Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Seasilk Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner (travel sized)
02: L’Oreal Preference High Shine Colour Conditioner
03: Lancome Hypnose Mascara
04: NARS Sheer Matte Foundation in Siberia / Givenchy Photo Perfexion Foundation in Perfect Ivory

I put the two foundations together and counted them as one product because neither of the bottles had a lot of product remaining in them, and I felt guilty counting them separately. I’ve not been 100% dedicated to the cause this month either, and I sneakily bought myself a bottle of Kosmea Rosehip Oil, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Porcelain Pink from Jess’ Blog Sale. Now watch me justify… I had completely run out of the Kosmea Rosehip Oil, and as it is one of my HG products, I needed it back in my routine asap. The cleanser was purchased because I will run out of the current cleanser that I’m using in a week or so and don’t want to have to wait for my new cleanser to be shipped here – pre-emptive strike. And as for the MAC… Well no money was exchanged as Jess also wanted some things from my blog sale, so really it’s a swap and not a purchase and therefore doesn’t count! Hooray! Bring on February.

Project 10 Pan

As one of my beauty resolutions for 2011 is to partake in Project 10 Pan at the beginning and end of the year (and I’ve also noticed that I have spent way too much money on cosmetics lately), I think it’s a great idea to start my Project 10 Pan asap. My Project 10 Pans are slightly different to most, as I opt to finish up a collective 10 products from various categories, rather than 10 makeup, 10 skin care etc. This works out better for me, and it usually takes 2 or 3 months for me to finish up the products, which is a decent amount of time (in my eyes at least) to not be spending money on cosmetics. I also find that after the 3 months or so I no longer have the urge to spend frivolously on products that I don’t necessarily want or need. But we’ll see how long that feeling lasts… I am aiming to spend less in 2011 on things I don’t need, and this seems like a good way to start to me. So here we go, Project 10 Pan starts now!
