What I Bought…

I’ve had a very strong urge to buy things recently. It drove me to the edge, I caved, and I spent some money. But it’s all good, I’m back on the wagon now and saving my pennies once more. I didn’t go too crazy, but while I was at the shops buying a gift for my nephew on the weekend I stumbled across a couple of things that I couldn’t resist picking up for myself.

I’ve been looking for a lightweight jacket to wear during the transition to the warmer months, and this one from Peter Morrissey for Big W is perfect. It’s a loose boyfriend fit, the sleeves can be easily rolled or pushed back because the lining is black, and it’s a lightweight material that should be comfortable to wear when the warm weather kicks in. The second item I wasn’t really planning on, but as it turns out I can’t walk past a Sussan store without going in to have a look. I feel like a lot of people overlook Sussan, but they have some really beautiful pieces. They’re pricey so I always check out the sale rack first. This pretty little split-back blouse was on sale, and I picked it up because it’s 100% my style and now I can’t wait to wear it. While I was in the store I spotted these linen blend t-shirts that looked like a nifty little tee, so I ordered myself after coming home and thinking about it for a bit. The necklace I saw in store and couldn’t get the idea of a ‘pop’ of yellow for spring/summer. I think it will bring a lot of life to some of my darker outfits next season.

What I Bought…

I am so sick of my work wardrobe at the moment. I ordered this GAP eyelet dress to try and mix things up a little bit. I also thought that it could work well for both spring/summer and autumn/winter, which makes it a bit of a winner in my eyes. The Old Navy jeans are the latest in my never-ending attempt to buy cheap yet well-fitting jeans online. It has worked maybe 3 times in the past 5 years. The search continues.

What I Bought…

I’ve had my eye on this pink striped beauty for quite a while now, and with ASOS’s winter sale popping up during the week, I just couldn’t resist. Also, I apparently can’t order just one thing from ASOS (especially during a sale), so I picked up this long-sleeved navy top as well. I picked up another one of the GAP luxelight sweaters in black because I get so much wear out of the two that I have, and I don’t like over-wearing GAP sweaters because they don’t wash that well. I bought the marled stripe sweater after seeing Michele1218 wearing and talking about it. I’m such a lemming. The scarf was an impulse purchase because I’d seen it on the site before and liked it and apparently this time around I needed to have it. I don’t know why I keep buying GAP work pants, because the quality isn’t great. But here we are. I opted for the straight leg pants instead of the skinny style, because they’re bound to be more flattering (one can hope).

What I bought…

Hey guys guess what I bought more clothes that I literally do not have room for. I’m a monster. I usually like the ‘one item in, one item out’ method, but I’ve run out of things to get rid of when a new item comes in, so it’s time to slow down. I’m planning on embarking on a short no-buy after I return from Bali, but we’ll see how long it lasts.

I already own a grey oversized jumper that I wear a LOT during winter, so I thought I’d buy one in another colour to work into the mix. I just couldn’t resist this striped patch jumper from ASOS. I feel like the navy and stripes compliment each other really well. I bought the wrap-front blouse to wear with jeans and a blazer (my favourite cold weather out-to-dinner outfit). I bought the dress to wear in Bali. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived because the floral detailing is actually bright FLURO, which I think will suit the tropical climate quite nicely. I bought the final two items because Shopbop were having their friends and family sale, and frankly I just couldn’t resist.

What I Bought

I’ve started allocating a certain amount of money to spend on ‘things’ for myself per fortnight. I don’t necessarily HAVE to spend the money each pay period (I can save it or allocate it elsewhere), but having that amount set aside helps me keep on top of what I’m spending on things for myself. I recently placed a GAP order of the following goodies using my fortnightly allowance, and I thought I would share them with you in a MustardJumper style ‘things I bought’ post.

GAP Stripe Bird Scarf GAP Luxelight Sweater in True Black Knit

GAP Drapey Baseball Tee in NavyGAP 1969 Legging Jeans

GAP Pencil Skirt in Black GAP The Essential V-Neck Tee in Dark Charcoal

I feel like the scarf will be a nice way to brighten up my mostly-black winter outfits. I ordered the jumper to wear over collared blouses with little statement necklaces peeking through. The legging jeans are an experiment, because I need some shorter pants to wear with ankle boots. The pencil skirt is a staple in my work wardrobe, and I need a couple of backups. The baseball tee was influenced by the ASOS tees that Natalie is always raving about. This one looked nice and comfortable, and perfect to either throw over jeans to duck down to the shops, or lounge around the house in. The v-neck is a gift for my boyfriend.

Autumn/Winter Wardrobe 2014

Every year I tell myself that I should take full advantage of the US sales and purchase clothing that I want, even if what I want doesn’t suit the season that I’m currently suffering through living in. This year (prompted by being in a foul mood and wanting to drop buckets of cash), I followed my own advice and did just that. Autumn/Winter is my favourite time of year, and cold-weather fashion (well, the mild kind of weather that we experience in Perth) is my favourite to shop for. I ordered the following items (nearly all of which were inspired by Jen from Jen Loves Kev) –

01) J Crew Military Pocket Shirt
02) Shark Trouser Socks
03) Refined Fair Isle Cardigan
04) Folk Girl Open Front Cardigan
05) Jeffrey Campbell Korman Moto Boot
06) Truly Madly Deeply V-Neck Slouch Pocket Tee

The only other thing I really need for the cold weather season is a new coat, but I think I’ll buy that in store somewhere because I want it to fit me like a glove.
