Product Review: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure

In an attempt to make the most of the products in my makeup collection, I’ve been putting aside specific items to use throughout the month. My goal is to gradually work through all of my products and if I realise that I’m not particularly keen on something, or if I find that it doesn’t suit me anymore, I’m getting rid of it. My day-to-day lip product for May was the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure. I’d completely forgotten that I owned this so it was a pleasant surprise to find it sitting in my lipstick drawer. This is an easily wearable pink shade but it’s not overly pigmented so it takes a few extra swipes to get it to an darker shade on my lips, depending on the look I’m going for. The wear time isn’t great, so if you’re after a long lasting finish I wouldn’t suggest this. For me it’s a great day-to-day lipstick to wear on occasions where I don’t want to have to make too much of a fuss (read: every single day). The Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Aventure retails for $50 and is available for purchase from your local Chanel makeup counter.

Product Review: Chanel Precision Eye Definer in Bonsai

This gem of an eyeliner went unused in my makeup collection for the longest time. Thankfully though, it’s now taken it’s rightful place in the top 3 favourite eyeliners in my collection. Eyeliners seem to last forever (I have never, ever finished an eyeliner) and I’ve had this one for around 5 years now and it’s still close to full size. The shade Bonsai is a gorgeous mossy green colour that really brings out some of the green elements in my eye colour, which is nice.

As you can see from the swatch above, it is heavily pigmented (the picture was taken after one swipe) and is smooth and easy to apply. The Chanel Precision Eyeliner also comes with a smudger at the opposite end to the pencil, but to be honest I never really use it because it’s really hard and not very easy to use on the gentle skin around the eye area. I’m not entirely sure how much the Chanel Precision Eyeliners retain for, your best bet is to check out your local Chanel counter to see if they have it in stock.

Beauty Haul: MAC, Urban Decay, Laura Mercier, Benefit & Chanel

This was my “last hurrah” splurge before embarking on Project 10 Pan recently. Any beauty obsessed girl worth her salt knows about the now cult-status Naked Palette from Urban Decay. They will also know that this precious gem has been sold out for A VERY LONG TIME. Granted, I could have traded one of my organs for enough cash to buy one from someone selling them on ebay but miracle of miracles Sephora decided to get them in stock. And lo and behold… They are still in stock. Also shown in this haul: MAC Lustre Lipstick in Lustering, MAC Fashionflower Beauty Powder in Apha Girl, MAC Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet, So Easy, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Adventure, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur, Benefit D’Finer D’Liner, the Laura Mercier Silk Road Eye and Cheek Palette and a tube of the Mirenesse Sexy Secret Weapon Mascara which was a gift from Adore Beauty.

Product Review: Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Teheran

First and foremost, I am not a lipstick girl. I rarely buy lipstick, and the ones that I have bought in the past sit for the most part unworn in my makeup stash. I’m not sure why, but I’ve never gotten the hang of wearing lipstick. I’ve been living my life in the safe and friendly arena of lipgloss wearers. Not for long. Enter Chanel Rouge Coco.

Though the original formulation Rouge Coco Lipsticks don’t really have anything on the new Rouge Coco Shine’s as far as moisturising qualities go, they are still silky enough for me to wear confidently without feeling like my lips are going to appear dry and cakey without some form of gloss over the top. It’s very long lasting, but does leave the dreaded ‘lipstick ring’ around the lips once the majority of the colour has worn off. Teheran is one of those magical colours that seems to work on both cool and warm toned skins and is the perfect bright coral for summer. What a shame that just as I discover it we start to head into the cooler months. You can currently pick up some of the Chanel Rouge Coco Lipsticks over at Strawberrynet, including the shade Teheran for $36 AUD.
